Douglas Unified School District #27, Douglas High School Land Lab.
One of the ways that we have been able to build infrastructure is to repurpose and recycle farm and ranch materials and equipment. The raised garden beds that we use on the Land Lab are actually retired liquid feed troughs from local ranches. They have holes in the bottom for drainage, some have hoops built over them for shade and all of them have a water source. This method makes gardening fast, effective, trouble free and manageable.
Look around your rural community for retired troughs that you can fill with soil and amendments and actually compost and grow at the same time.
