The MSGN connects garden advocates and resources, supporting the development of sustainable school gardens and educational programs to promote health, nutrition, and environmental stewardship for the youth and families of Marin County.  We provide opportunities for networking, idea sharing, and collaboration.

Berkeley Unified School District Cooking and Garden Nutrition Program

Berkeley Unified School District’s Cooking and Garden Nutrition Program seeks to educate all students on the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables and getting physical activity every day. Through hands-on garden and cooking-based nutrition education classes, students learn about where their food comes from and how to cook healthy meals. Parents and students learn fun and easy ways to make healthy choices through annual school wide events such as Harvest Fairs, Farmers’ Market booths, and parent cooking classes.

Occidental Arts and Ecology Center

Occidental Arts and Ecology Center (OAEC) is a educational and community organizing center located in west Sonoma County on an 80 acre site. The OAEC School Garden Teacher Training and Support Program provides hands-on training and support to school garden teams, and serves as a hub for the Greater Bay Area school garden movement. Since 1997 we have trained over 500 individuals and 200 schools and non-profits in garden-based learning skills.
